Happy Mother’s Day!

On this Mother’s Day, I would like to share my favourite image from a previous Day in the Life session with Bernice and Gogoi. The couple moved into a new house with their baby daughter Jivika, and while they were settling into their new surroundings, life was as busy as usual. On this Sunday, after taking Jivika for a stroll, they headed back to their new home, dad returned to work, while mom helped put Jivika to sleep. An engagement portrait can be seen at the bedside, reminding us they have entered another chapter of their life. Dad’s eyes were focused on his laptop, and mom’s were concentrating on Jivika, and I am sure they shared a common wish in their hearts - to give their very best to Jivika, with all their love and care. A single moment, captured in a frame, loaded with love, and lots of stories to tell. Deep in my heart, I hope that when Jivika becomes an adult, a picture like this will serve as a reminder of how much her parents mean to her. 

Day in the Life session, or documentary family photography, is really all about these mundane but invaluable moments in your life, which in my humble opinion, can never be replicated by any set-up portraits.
